Drytac's Flowtex Texturing System Product Listings
In addition to the ArtShield pre-embossed textured laminating films, Drytac offers FlowTex, a customized texturing system.
The FlowTex Texturing System is a simple but versatile laminating/embossing technique that creates practically limitless varieties of textures and special embossed finishes. It adds a unique extra appeal to customers¹ photos, posters, prints, album covers and mat boards. Choose from canvas, leather or other popular textures and then follow the simple instructions. The FlowTex Texturing System is so easy to use that professional and consistently sellable results are assured, even for beginners. Almost any imaginable effect or texture is possible, from linen to wrinkled aluminum and from foil to sandpaper. Create your own custom finish using embossed wallpaper or other decorative products. Your customers will appreciate the extra creativity and come back for more.
The FlowTex system consists of a simple two step process:
- Laminate the image with FlowTex laminating film in your heated vacuum, dry mount or hardbed press. During this step, you must cover the FlowTex with Blue Matt Release Film. This will prevent FlowTex from sticking to the top of your press. (Remember, FlowTex needs to be completely covered.)
Allow your work to cool before removing the Blue Matt Release Film.
- To achieve a textured/embossed finish, the laminated image needs to be placed in the press a second time and re-covered with a new sheet of either Blue Matt Release Film (for a matte finish) or Clear Gloss Release Film (for a high gloss finish). On top, place whatever texturing material you have chosen. It may take as little as two minutes to soften the FlowTex, allowing the texture to transfer to your image. Once removed from the press, allow cooling time; then remove the release film to inspect your textured image.
To return the finish to an untextured surface or to change the texture, cover your print with a new sheet of Blue Matt or Clear Gloss Release Film and repeat the second step.

Note: FlowTex is perforated, which allows for faster lamination. However, for large posters or photographs we recommend additional perforation.
