Floor Graphic Fabrication

This icon indicates Drytac products that are suitable for floor graphic solutions.

Floor graphics have become a proven and still growing promotional tool in supermarkets, shopping malls, sports arenas, airports, hotels, casinos and other gathering places. Floor graphics need to comply with technical standards in the areas of durability, slippage factors and adhesive characteristics. Drytac has developed three approaches to fabricating safe, durable and removable floor graphics.

Floor Graphic Solution 1:
Overlaminate film over self-adhesive inkjet vinyl.

Components: VersaJet™ pressure-sensitive vinyl with removable adhesive back and Protac Emerytex™ or MediaShield Emerytex™ floor-approved overlaminate.

Procedure: Print image directly on ink receptive VersaJet vinyl and overlaminate with Emerytex. Remove the release liner and apply the adhesive to the prepared floor surface.

Floor Graphic Solution 2:
Encapsulated floor graphic sandwich. This solution is compatible with almost any type of graphic image, including inkjet, E-stat, photographic and other types of printable substrates.

Components: Protac Emerytex or MediaShield Emerytex, floor-approved overlaminate and FloorTac™ double-sided adhesive.

Procedure: First precut output media, then encapsulate with Protac Emerytex or MediaShield Emerytex on top and FloorTac (removable adhesive side down) on the bottom. Leave at least a 1/2" (13 mm) edge seal around the perimeter of the print. This is particularly important when encapsulating porous media such as paper. Remove the release liner from FloorTac and apply the decal to the prepared floor surface. For best results, the printed media should be less than 6.0 mil (150 micron) thick because it will be laminated top and bottom. The objective is to limit the total thickness of the graphic sandwich, which in turn minimizes the graphic to surface height difference.

Floor Graphic Solution 3:
Second surface graphic.

Components: FloorTac double-sided adhesive and a floor-approved reverse-printable substrate.

Procedure: Print a mirror image on the back of the reverse-printable substrate and laminate it to the FloorTac adhesive, removable adhesive side down. Remove the release liner from FloorTac and apply the decal to the prepared floor surface.
