Get social distancing signs right with new guide from Drytac

As more businesses open to the public and staff, Drytac has released a guide on using social distancing graphics safely on walls, windows and floors.

Drytac has compiled a new, free guide on how signs and graphics can be used effectively and safely to inform and provide guidance to people in accordance with government guidelines.

As lockdown restrictions are eased and we transition to a new normal, businesses are finding that floor graphics, wall displays and window signs are essential for non-verbal communication. Graphics can convey safety information such as social distancing, hand washing guidance and queuing systems, and to alert customers about updated services or opening hours.

As we enter uncharted territory, best practices remain essential for businesses to ensure their legal obligations are met and people are kept safe. Drytac’s new guide, Open, Innovating, Moving Forward, is intended to help retailers and installers to choose the correct graphics solutions that meet these requirements. It outlines what to look for – from fire ratings to slip ratings to FDA approvals – and lists Drytac’s products that may be suitable for relevant applications. These are categorised into window graphic solutions, one-part and two-part floor graphic solutions, writable media, wall graphic products and antimicrobial films.

The free-to-download guide is both easy to use and interactive: clicking on a product listed in the guide will open the associated Drytac webpage, providing more details, datasheets and application videos.

“We’re seeing more short-term graphics than ever before and it’s absolutely essential that they are safe and legal for their specific environments,” says Shaun Holdom, Global Product Manager for Drytac. “Our new guide will help businesses make the right decision when choosing and installing informative graphics.”

Open, Innovating, Moving Forward is available to download for free now. Simply visit www.drytac.com/socialdistancingsolutions to download a copy. Drytac, a leading international manufacturer of self-adhesive materials for the large format print and signage markets, has also compiled a guide on short- and long-term graphics for the retail market. This can also be downloaded now via www.drytac.com/retail.

Drytac adds aluminium Polar Street FX to outdoor floor graphics range

Drytac Polar Street FX is designed for safe, durable outdoor floor graphics applications without lamination. This aluminium product is also 100 percent recyclable.

Drytac has released Polar Street FX, a PVC-free aluminium print media designed for durable floor graphics in outdoor locations without lamination.

The latest addition to Drytac’s already extensive portfolio is in response to significant market demand for floor graphics as a social distancing tool, while reflecting the need for products that are quick to produce, easy to apply and safe for their specific environments.

“There is a huge market for floor graphics, and we expect that to continue for some months,” says Shaun Holdom, Global Product Manager, Drytac. “It’s essential for any print businesses offering this application to provide graphics that are safe and durable, however urgent the timeframe.”

Polar Street FX has been especially developed to adhere securely to rough ground surfaces including concrete, brick and asphalt, and any other low-energy surfaces, thanks to its uniquely developed adhesive. Its aluminium composition provides extra durability in high-traffic areas – for up to twelve months – without the need for lamination.

Polar Street FX has achieved several slip ratings and certifications, including DIN 51130:2010 where it achieved a R12 and has passed the ANSI A137.1/A326.3 slip test. This makes it ideal for public areas such as shopping streets.

As a one-part solution, Polar Street FX can be installed straight from the print room, with no heat required for application and no overlaminate product necessary. Eco-friendly disposal is also simple: aluminium-based Polar Street FX is PVC-free, meaning it is 100 percent recyclable.

Polar Street FX is the ideal product for floor graphics applications in high-traffic outdoor locations,” comments Shaun Holdom. “It can be installed quickly and easily, is non-slip and can be recycled, ticking a range of boxes for public graphics projects.”

Drytac Polar Street FX is a 250µ (10 mil) textured printable white matte aluminium film, coated on one side with a clear, high tack adhesive. It is available in widths of up to 1,200mm (48″) and is compatible with all common digital printing technologies including eco-solvent*, solvent*, latex and UV.

Drytac launches Protac Antimicrobial for extra peace of mind

Drytac has released Protac® Antimicrobial in the UK & Europe, a new laminating film that protects surfaces against bacteria and fungus.

This clear film is composed of a textured polyester with a hard top coat. The antimicrobial additives are incorporated during the manufacturing process to ensure even distribution throughout the top coating. These antimicrobial agents disrupt the microbial cell wall of bacteria and fungus, inhibiting growth up to fifteen years. The film’s chemistry also provides scratch and chemical resistance which allows daily cleaning without loss of effectiveness.

Thanks to its reliable and consistent protection from contaminants including MRSA, streptococcus, E. coli, salmonella and more, Protac Antimicrobial is ideal for use in environments where hygiene is of particular importance, such as hospitals, schools, nurseries, restaurants and cafeterias.

It also provides extra peace of mind for anyone conscious of hygiene on surfaces such as counters, control panels, door plates, switches and equipment, and on signage and POP graphics and displays. Its textured yet clear finish ensures colours are not diminished while providing good resistance to abrasions.

Drytac – a leading international manufacturer of self-adhesive materials for markets including large format print and signage – has developed Protac Antimicrobial with a solvent acrylic adhesive for permanent applications and comes with an indoor durability of up to fifteen years.

Protac Antimicrobial is ideal for preventing the growth and spread of bacteria from touch surfaces,” comments Shaun Holdom, Global Product Manager for Drytac. “Its applications in environments such as hospitals and health centres are practically limitless, with many more potential sites in retail, education, transport and hospitality. For anyone with concerns about hygiene and contamination, this innovative product can help.”

Drytac Protac Antimicrobial has a thickness of 150μ (6 mil), a width of up to 1200mm and a textured matte finish.

Drytac announces new PVC-free floor graphic solutions in Europe

Drytac has launched two new PVC-free floor graphic products in Europe to meet the growing demand for non-slip, easy-to-apply solutions in this market.

Drytac Polar® Floor PET 170 is a new print media for indoor floor graphics that meets essential anti-slip requirements without the need for lamination. Part of the popular Polar range, Polar Floor PET 170 PVC-free polyester film has achieved a post-printed anti-slip rating of R10 according to DIN 51130, has been classed as low slip potential by the UK Pendulum Test and is certified to the US ANSI A137.1 slip test. These credentials are crucial for ensuring safety throughout floor graphics campaigns in high-traffic areas.

Drytac has also ensured Polar Floor PET 170 is scuff- and tear-resistant for short-term indoor applications – even able to withstand high-heeled shoes – so printed graphics remain visible and vibrant. The white, ink-receptive film has a textured, matte finish that is perfect for directional notices, retail promotions, POS advertising and decals in place for up to six months.

Polar Floor PET 170 is coated on one side with a clear, pressure-sensitive adhesive which enables installers to apply, reposition and remove graphics easily. This dimensionally stable film has been tested to endure extreme temperatures and is compatible with standard flooring surfaces including ceramic tiles, sealed wood, concrete, waxed vinyl and short pile carpets.

Also new from Drytac is SpotOn® SynTac Floor. One half of a two-part solution with Drytac’s Interlam EcoTex PVC-free overlaminating film, this new product has been developed with the environment in mind. Featuring Drytac’s unique SpotOn dot-pattern adhesive, SpotOn SynTac Floor is easily applied to and removed from smooth floor surfaces including ceramic tiles, sealed wood and concrete. When paired with Interlam EcoTex, this printable matte white, self-adhesive film gives floor graphics a pebble-texture finish.

Like Polar Floor PET 170, the SpotOn SynTac Floor and Interlam EcoTex combination solution is a safe choice for short-term indoor floor graphics. Interlam EcoTex has been tested in accordance with DIN 51130 standards and has been awarded an R10 anti-slip rating to give end users peace of mind.

“Floor graphics play many roles in a wide range of environments but it’s essential they remain safe for public use,” says Shaun Holdom, Global Product Manager, Drytac. “Polar Floor PET 170 from Drytac has been designed to be non-slip and scuff-resistant without the need for lamination so users can apply them straightaway, speeding up the process for fast-moving projects.

“Drytac’s SpotOn SynTac Floor and Interlam EcoTex solution provides an environmentally friendly option to ensure users retain their sustainability credentials while creating impactful, safe floor graphics.”

Drytac Polar Floor PET 170 has a thickness of 170μ (6.8 mil) and is available in widths up to 1524mm. SpotOn SynTac Floor and Interlam EcoTex have a combined thickness of 240μ and is available in roll widths of up to 1370mm.
