DTX Wraps Brings Bold Branding to Gas Monkey Icehouse with Drytac Polar Grip Air

The new Gas Monkey Icehouse, a spin-off venture from the nearby Gas Monkey Garage, features a range of graphics printed by DTX Wraps on Polar Grip Air.

Texas-based vehicle and building wraps specialist DTX Wraps used Polar Grip Air permanent self-adhesive vinyl from Drytac to create a series of striking interior and exterior graphics for use at Gas Monkey Icehouse, a new concept from the nearby, world-famous Gas Monkey Garage.

Based in Dallas, DTX Wraps specializes in both vehicle and architectural wraps, delivering high-impact graphics for cars, fleets, and buildings alike. The team works closely with clients on a wide range of creative projects, from custom vehicle designs to transforming interior and exterior spaces with bold, eye-catching visuals.

Gas Monkey Icehouse opened in May as Dallas’ newest spot for food and drinks, following the success of Gas Monkey Sturgis in South Dakota. The Dallas venue is the latest venture from Richard Rawlings and builds on the success of the nearby Gas Monkey Garage.

Gas Monkey Garage rose to global fame as the setting of Fast N’ Loud, the hit Discovery Channel series where Richard Rawlings and his team restored tired, run-down cars. The show aired for 16 seasons between 2012 and 2020, building an international fan base. Today, the garage continues to operate as a fully functioning shop and shares its latest builds with millions of viewers through a popular YouTube series, keeping the brand’s influence alive and growing.

Gas Monkey Icehouse has very much been inspired by the original garage, taking on a car theme throughout. This is where DTX Wraps was able to assist, working with the new venue to produce eye-catching graphics inside and outside the building.

“We have worked with Gas Monkey Garage on several projects over the years,” said CJ Reichwein, Managing Partner of DTX Wraps. “On this occasion, we had to produce and install approximately 2,000 square feet (186 m²) of vinyl at the new venue.”

As a long-time user of Drytac products, DTX Wraps quickly identified Polar Grip Air as the ideal choice for the project. This printable vinyl features a strong, permanent adhesive and bubble-free application technology, making installation fast and easy. It’s designed for challenging surfaces like brick and cinderblock, making it perfect for the venue’s textured walls.

Offering high opacity, Polar Grip Air also provides a consistent printing surface and offers a superb white point, while its availability in a matte finish with a grey permanent adhesive allows for optimum performance on a variety of substrates.

To ensure durability in a public setting, DTX Wraps combined the Polar Grip Air with Drytac’s Weathershield Matte overlaminate. This protective film is rated for up to 7 years outdoors and carries multiple fire certifications, making it a safe and reliable choice for high-traffic environments.

The company printed all elements in-house on its Epson SureColor SC-S80600L before installing the graphics on location at the start of May 2025, ahead of the venue opening to the public.

“We know Drytac products well, which is why we trusted them for such a high-profile project,” said CJ. “The install went smoothly, and the feedback has been incredible; people have called it everything from ‘beautiful’ to ‘kick-ass.’

“We really value our relationship with Drytac. Like us, they prioritize customer service. We get a top-quality product, strong support, and great value.”
